BarCampNYC2 Planning: Other

Should we try having separate tracks for different kinds of sessions?

  • 2 hard-core tech sessions (traditional BarCamp fare)
  • 1 UX/Design track
  • 1 Beginner/Getting started track

We also talked about doing 1 general, "Starting a web community" workshop that took up two blocks and was prescheduled.

I am concerned that having tracks of this sort will result in people choosing to stick with "their own kind" and not actually drifting into things about which they might not have expertise. The full experience of attending a BarCamp comes from interacting with everyone - thus the newbies and the experts are all in a room together, adding their own perspectives. - JesseChanNorris

Feedback from last year suggested shorter sessions (30 min) and more defined/longer break time. Things to consider.
